A week with Mint KDE 13 RC

Install was painless.

Audio did not work out of the box.  Unistalled pulseaudio, and removed HDMI from output choices.  All better!

Had a couple crazy bugs with Dolphin launching on logon for no reason???  Also on one reboot, had a bunch of stuff start on logon that would restart when closed, required me to go to a virtual console and restart KDM…  Don’t know what caused this, thankfully it did not reproduce.

A few control panel options did not apply when closed and required manual editing… I don’t remember which ones they were.

It’s KDE, and it’s still resource intensive.  This one seems to be very hungry.  I’ve a fairly decent setup and although I could see higher resources being used, I generally could not see a significant slowdown.  One thing I did notice that shouldn’t be was very high cpu cyles used on large file transfers.  This load should be on the SATA bus, and I have no idea why this load was taxing the cpu.

This just removed this distro & it won’t be my alternative to GNOME3.

Currently I’m test driving Mint LMDE with xfce.  From what I’ve seen so far I’m hoping I don’t get a ticket.  Yes, it’s quick!
